Add a Camera button next to every image upload in Sngine—posts, profile photo, cover, and verification. Users open a full-screen camera overlay (or the native camera on Android), capture, Retake or Use, and the photo is injected automatically into Sngine’s normal uploader. No page reloads, no searching for files. Includes smart cover resizing/cropping to meet Sngine’s 1296×360 requirement. Works on web and PWA, requires HTTPS, and doesn’t touch core files.
Key benefits
Frictionless posting: Capture directly in the feed—faster than file uploads
More authentic content: Real-time photos boost trust & engagement
No core edits: Drop-in JavaScript (Footer) and done
Works everywhere: Web + PWA; Android gets an extra Camera (native) button
Smart cover handling: Auto crop/resize to ≥1296×360
Privacy-friendly: Stays client-side until the user taps Use
Great for verification: Cleaner, quicker ID/selfie capture
Features
Camera buttons on Posts, Avatar, Cover, and Verification
Full-screen overlay with Use/Retake/Close and camera flip
Prevents mobile keyboard from popping up during capture
Optional Android native camera launcher
Automatic center-crop & resize for cover images (meets Sngine’s minimums)
Designed to work with Sngine 4.x + PWA; no backend changes
Requirements
Sngine 4.x
HTTPS (browsers block camera on HTTP)
Admin access to paste JS into Custom JavaScript (Footer)
Compatibility notes
Android/Chrome: overlay + extra Camera (native) button
Apple (iOS/iPadOS/macOS): overlay camera only (no native button)
Images only (no video capture)
What’s included
Drop-in Footer JavaScript (v8.1)
(Optional) /ln-camera/ test page to verify camera access (web root)
FAQ (quick)
Does it modify Sngine core files?
No—pure drop-in JS (Footer). Easy to install/remove.
Does it work in the PWA?
Yes—works in web and PWA as long as you’re on HTTPS and camera permissions are allowed.
Can it record video?
No—image capture only (ideal for posts, avatar, cover, verification).
Why only one button on Apple devices?
Safari/WebKit doesn’t expose a reliable native-app launcher; the overlay camera is used instead.
