Hello to the community!
It's great that a place like this exists.
I own two social media sites, which I develop and update with two small community teams.

I hope that people will be looking for more posts and new members here in the future, so that there will be a place to help each other and discover new things for their own community.

    I always look and research which larger niches don't have their own community site. Then I decide which one I want to serve.

  • Hello everyone! Since some of you run your own communities, what are your must-haves for social media site systems? What are the most important things you need as a community admin? Features are already included in Sngine, but also things you'd like to see included?

    For example, a big issue for my sites was/is moderation. A good and clear moderation tool is essential. Moderation logs to see what the moderators are doing, etc. Something Sngine never offered by default.

  • Since my last post was surprisingly (!) 6 months ago, I just wanted to give a quick update.

    A small team and I have been working with Sngine for several years now and have several active communities.

    Despite the issues with the Sngine team and updates, as well as the possibilities of extending the system independently, we decided to develop our own social engine. This was simply to eliminate our dependence, make customizations better, faster, and easier, move away from PHP and the SQL database, and work with modern systems.

    In about two months, we will migrate the first community currently running on Sngine to our own system. This will allow us to test our system in an active, live environment, fix initial bugs, and determine which functions we need to adapt specifically for our communities. We want to ensure that the system isn't the same for every niche we serve, but rather develop niche-specific functions and thus become independent.

    . ... I really hope everything goes according to plan, and that we'll have all our Sngine communities switched to our own system within a year at the latest. (Wish me luck).

  • I've made some adjustments to our moderation system, not only redesigning the reports listing page.

    Users now also receive a notification when one of their posts is deleted during moderation, with information about which post and the reason.

    One of the first things I created for moderation: report logs.
    All reports with all information and decisions are saved to view moderation decisions and identify suspicious accounts at all times. Reports are also assigned to the user in the profile edit to view previously made moderation decisions. Moderators themselves can also add their own entries without having to create a report. In case of warnings etc.

    I'll show more of my changes here in the future!

Here, users can choose between free and paid profile rings, which are displayed everywhere around their profile picture: in the timeline, profile, comments—everywhere.   • In one of my communities, posting adult content is permitted. To give users more control over this type of content, we have added two new settings: one allows users to completely disable the display of adult content on their account, ensuring they are not exposed to it at all. The other ensures that adult content is always blurred by default, allowing users to scroll through their feed in public without concern.

  • Small but very important change
    Volume setting in the Reels tab! All reels play at 50% volume unless the user has changed it themselves in the current session.

    For this purpose, our users have a volume slider to adjust the volume themselves!
